For hosts

Your celebration,
accompanied by Magic, Mind & More.

Whether it is a 50th, a 70th or a 100th – every landmark birthday and every anniversary has a story of its own. Not an off-the-peg show, but a moment that fits the person at the centre of it.

Relatives who know each other only from family photographs, old friends who have not seen each other for years: at the drinks reception everyone stands side by side, looking for a way into a conversation. Entertainment at the (standing) tables is made for precisely that – I move from table to table, ten to fifteen minutes a round, and afterwards there is definitely something to talk about.

For the evening I mainly offer a stage show of its own: 25 to 30 minutes in which all your guests share the same moment – usually placed after the meal, with a personal connection to the guest of honour if you would like one. Anyone who would rather have short table pieces between the courses can have that instead – with no technical requirements at all, but in shorter, five-minute moments per table. For the evening the two rule each other out: you choose one of the two forms. And for both: no doves, no top hats, no kitsch.

The drinks reception with table-to-table entertainment and the evening programme are two separate building blocks – each bookable on its own. You can choose just the reception, just the evening – or both together, in my experience the loveliest combination for a celebration. A birthday or an anniversary lives off the family and friends who come together – not off me. My show is there to add to that moment, not to claim it. So we decide together which form best suits your celebration and when the right point in the running order is – usually before the evening gets too boisterous, so that everyone who is meant to join in is still fully with us.

What matters at a celebration

The centrepiece: a stand-alone stage show

25 to 30 minutes for all your guests at once, with a personal connection to the guest of honour if you wish, and split into two parts of 20 to 25 minutes if needed – which I recommend when the show is to stay a surprise for your guests and enough room for conversation matters to you. Alternatively one of my shows from the Magic, Mind & More series or an entirely bespoke full-length show can be booked (around 90 to 100 minutes). From experience I recommend in every case: tell your guests beforehand what you have planned – magic, and mind magic in particular, is not to everyone’s taste. For the stage show I need a clearly visible space of at least three by three metres (more is welcome), a headset microphone for me and a handheld microphone for the guests I work with, plus the means to play in additional audio sources and an undisturbed room to withdraw to before the performance and during breaks.

Whoever joins in is the hero of the evening

Everyone should enjoy the show – laughter and second thoughts are expressly welcome. Whoever joins in is the only one who gets to experience for themselves what seemed impossible; everyone else merely watches and has to believe what they saw. A one-off opportunity – entirely without wagers or jokes at the expense of the person whose day it is.

Made for the drinks reception

I move from (standing) table to (standing) table and entertain your guests for ten to fifteen minutes each with mind-magic experiments. It does not get any closer than this.

Breaks the ice between the generations

Grandchildren, neighbours, old friends: after being astonished together, they get talking.

Works outdoors too

The table entertainment works in the garden, in a courtyard and anywhere else without a stage.

How it works

How an evening like this comes about

  1. Beforehand

We work out at which point the moment fits best, and whether you would like a stage show or short table pieces for the evening.

  2. Drinks reception

Entertainment at the (standing) tables, from group to group.

  3. After the meal

The stage block: 25 to 30 minutes, with a personal connection to the guest of honour if you wish – the centrepiece of the evening. Alternatively short table pieces between the courses are possible, with no technical requirements at all.

What people said afterwards

“The gap between the reception and dinner was the part we dreaded most. It turned into the part our guests still talk about today.”

Wedding in the Remstal valley

“My father wanted no speeches and no surprises. He got both - and he never even noticed.”

C. B.

70th birthday, Ludwigsburg

“Three courses, and between each one something that simply cannot be. The evening had paid for itself before dessert arrived.”

Birthday & anniversary in Stuttgart and the surrounding region

I am regularly on the road in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Esslingen, Waiblingen, Backnang and everywhere around. If your venue is not on the list, ask anyway – further afield is possible by arrangement.

Questions about birthday & anniversary bookings

Does it still work once people have had a drink?

Yes, as a rule it works even better – a relaxed audience often joins in more readily. Only if someone has clearly had too much do I deliberately pick a different person to work with.

Can you build in a personal connection to the person whose day it is?

Yes, gladly – a personal connection to the guest of honour can be built in without the evening turning into a stage show about them. I discuss that with you beforehand.

Is this one of the shows from your website?

Not directly – for your celebration I devise a show of its own. Alternatively one of my stage shows from the Magic, Mind & More series can be booked, see “Shows”. We discuss together which suits you better.

Does it work for a small, private party as well?

Yes – for smaller, private celebrations the table entertainment in particular works very well. The stage show can be adapted too; we talk beforehand about the right form for your gathering.

Will the guest of honour be shown up or made a fool of?

No. Nobody has to come forward who would rather not, and there is no punchline at a guest’s expense – anyone who joins in comes out looking better than before, not worse.

Does it suit mixed age groups, from grandchildren to grandparents?

Yes, the show works well across several generations. Mind magic lives off language and perception – children from about the age of 12 follow it well, while for younger children it can quickly become less exciting.

What do I need for the stage show – equipment, space?

A clearly visible space of at least three by three metres (more is welcome), a headset and a handheld microphone, the means to play in additional audio sources, and an undisturbed room to withdraw to before the performance and during breaks – we settle all the details together beforehand.

How does booking work – what is included in the price?

After our first conversation you receive a written confirmation by email with the date, the place, the show and the fee – which doubles as the booking confirmation. It covers the fee as well as travel costs and, where needed, accommodation – for me and, if an assistant is required, for them too. Once the date is three months away, a deposit of 50% falls due; the rest is payable after the performance. The exact terms are set out in my AGB (in German).

Birthday & anniversary

Does this suit your celebration?

Tell me the date, the place and roughly how many guests. Within a few working days you get a reply from me – with questions if need be, and if necessary we will find the right solution together.
